Job Summary:

Serves as a patient care provider in conjunction with a Registered Nurse. The Paramedic is responsible for providing advanced level emergency management and specialized medical care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients that require inter-facility ambulance transport. Functions in conjunction with a Registered Nurse in accordance with approved departmental policies, procedures and protocols and under the direction of the Critical Care Transport Medical Director. Provides patient care within a defined scope of practice that includes specified treatments and procedures, provision of environmental and personal safety and effective communication.




Education: High School or GED required.

Experience: Minimum of three years of experience as a field Paramedic/Critical Care Paramedic with a recognized EMS pre-hospital or Specialty Care Transport Provider.

Licensure/ Certification/ Registration: Current driver's license without restrictions-Required. Current EMT-P licensure-Required.

Additional Skills/Requirements required: Must have ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age, as well as health and developmental needs. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written documentation . Must have operating knowledge and skill in VHF/UHF radio communications and ability to interpret county and state maps. Must have a current recognized emergency vehicle operations certification or successfully complete within 11 year. Clean driving record front he North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles must be submitted. Excellent customer service skills.
