Data Quality Engineer III

The successful candidates can sit in either Charlotte, NC OR Winston-Salem, NC. Also, the other two foot-printed locations of GA or VA. 

Primary responsibility and activity for the assessment, improvement, implementation, and support of data quality initiatives across the Novant Health data platform. Assesses the current state of the Novant Health data platform for improvement opportunities within the six dimensions of data quality. Works within and beyond area of control to implement improvement approaches. Engages with team to quantify and articulate the business impact of data quality issues. Analyzes business requirements and translates to technical requirements.

Collaborates with Enterprise Architects, Data Platform Integration, other teams, and third-party vendors. Shares knowledge and provides mentoring to other team members. Applies expert knowledge to analyze, evaluate, and architect possible solutions; and presents recommendations to DPS management and business stakeholders. Solutions architecture comprises end-to-end processes, including the application and integration of data quality rules into existing and new processes, which deliver data to consumer layers and downstream systems. Collaborates with various business and technical teams to gather requirements around data quality rules. Configures data quality rules per requirements, following standards and design patterns, applying defensive programming for any code optimization needed. Applies strong problem-solving skills to address complex technical issues around the solution, and liaisons with vendors to diagnose and resolve potential defects. Works with Business Analysts and subject matter experts on processes to enable and ensure data quality within the data platform.

Leverages profiling methods to properly identify data irregularities and inaccuracies. Creates and executes data quality mappings that will cleanse, de-duplicate, and otherwise prepare project data. Implements data quality processes leveraging Address Verification engine capabilities; including transliteration, parsing, standardization and enrichment for both batch and single request modes. Deploys mappings that will run in  scheduled, batch, or real-time environments. Documents all mappings, mapplets, and rules in detail and provides documentation to team members and leadership. Utilizes the data quality tool to design and develop custom objects and rules. Designs matching plans, assists in defining best matching algorithms, configuring identity matching and analyzing duplicates. Develops profiles and scripts for the execution and testing of mappings and workflows to implement data stewardship and exception processing. Creates human task workflows and data quality scorecards to support data remediation. Expert at writing SQL queries and validating the results of data loads.

Develops, monitors, supports, and optimizes data quality scorecards and exception workflows. Tunes processes to meet SLAs for downstream systems. Monitors and assesses the overall health of the data quality environments and presents recommendations to team members and administrators on performance optimization. Provides and maintains documentation to assist in troubleshooting production issues and to optimize the support of production processes. Implements best practices, following policies and change management procedures. Develops subject matter expertise of Novant Health’s data quality processes and how it impacts upstream and downstream solutions.

• Education: Associates Degree Required, Bachelor`s Degree Preferred.
• Experience: Minimum five years in a data quality engineering or developer role. Expert knowledge of data quality tools, such as Informatica IDQ. High level of knowledge of the capabilities, constraints, and best practices of the data quality product. Expert in the development and optimization of Microsoft SQL queries. Required.
• Additional skills required: Ability to work under deadlines and heavy workloads with minimal supervision. Provides mentor-ship to other Data Quality Engineers and team members. Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. Values and encourages team collaboration. Possesses a thorough understanding of business and technology disciplines. Expert knowledge of end-to-end processes and best practices for producing trusted data. Ability to provide solution architecture in order to deliver cleansed data to systems, such as Master Data Management (MDM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Common Data Model (CDM). Expert knowledge and experience with development and best practices using Novant Health’s data quality tools. Highly knowledgeable of the six dimensions of data quality. Expert in writing SQL queries to identify data issues, data fixes, and validate new and existing data. Ability to run system performance analysis and tuning. Ability to perform research, data collection, quality assurance, analysis and problem solving. Utilization of change management processes and agile methodology. 
• Additional skills preferred: Experience with integrating data with Microsoft Azure. Understanding the processes required to integrate Novant Health’s data quality tools with other products, such as Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) and Business Glossary (Axon). Proficient in cleansing and de-duplicating healthcare data is preferred. Experience with electronic patient medical record systems and their reporting databases, such as Epic and Clarity. Experience with implementing Master Data Management systems, such as Informatica MDM preferred. Understanding of agile framework and methodology.
