About Critical Care Transport:


The Critical Care Transport Team is comprised of Registered Nurses and Paramedics with advanced training in hospital based critical care.  This area provides planned and controlled ground transfer by ambulance to adults in need of continuous nursing care, admission and transportation from one health care facility to another within a 150mile radius.  The types of patients cared for ranges from those being admitted to Coronary Care Units, Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units, Cardiac Catherization Labs and Telemetry Units. 


A broad range of monitoring, diagnostic, and therapeutic modalities is utilized on the critical care transport ambulances.  These modalities include, but are not limited to:

  • Cardiac monitoring
  • Hemodynamic monitoring to include management of arterial lines and pulmonary arterial lines
  • Endotracheal intubation and ventilator management
  • 12-Lead ECG transmission
  • Transcutaneous Pacing
  • Defibrillation
  • Full complement of Emergency and ACLS medications
  • Titration of vasoactive medications
  • Radio and cellular telephone communications to medical control
  • Non-invasive blood pressure monitoring
  • Pulse oximetry
  • End tidal CO2 monitoring (ETCO2)
  • Neonatal transport

  • Education: 4 years / Bachelors Degree preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Experience: One year relevant experience preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state required.
