PACU/Outpatient recovery experience strongly preferred; BLS/ACLS required.

 

Our patient population is Oncology patients. Radiation Oncology med surge nurses provides phase 1/ phase 2 recovery care for patients receiving high dose rate (HDR) and low dose rate (LDR)  brachytherapy radiation treatments. Nurses are expected to cross cover and  support the outpatient clinic, as needed,  for patient weekly assessment (vitals, med rec, referrals) and patient education as it relates to radiation treatments. The med-surg nurse needs high-level critical thinking skills, vast knowledge of disease states and body systems, robust management skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. These qualities provide a well-rounded foundation for the start of your nursing career.

Qualifications

  • Education: If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree required.
  • Experience: One year relevant experience required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN Licensure in appropriate state Required. Advanced certifications as required per facility Required.
  • Additional skills required: Appropriate customer service, effective and appropriate customer relations, verbal and non-verbalcommunication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking and computer literacy. Advanced training as required by department
