Provides diabetes education, information and training to patients, family, staff and community that responds to individualized needs in accordance with the current policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Required. Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition or related science.; registered by the Commission of Dietetic Registration; licensed by the state of North Carolina to practice dietetics.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience as RD in diabetes or related field required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) Preferred. Refer to Life Support Training Policy NH-HR-3096. If non CDE, 15 diabetes credit hrs annually Required. 
  • Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Knowledge, ability and skills to support diabetes education to accommodate cultural diversity, age specific or behavioral needs among the patients being served.
