Overview

 

We are currently interviewing Registered Nurses for our Behavioral Health department with at least one year of experience.    

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures completion of nursing interventions, medical orders, and other related therapies. 
  • Delegates appropriately to ensure the implementation of the plan of care while ensuring patient safety. 
  • May serve as a mentor/coach, a code blue leader and/or RRT responder. 
  • Consistently utilizes appropriate communication tools such as Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation, and Question (SBARQ) when communicating within the interdisciplinary team and when handing off patient care.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree preferred.
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Experience: One year relevant experience preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire required.
  • Additional Skills (required): Ability to care for Behavioral Health age specific patients within facility. Ability to establish therapeutic rapport and keep safety a priority, and the ability use violent and non-violent restraints restrictive interventions per policy and procedure. Ability to comprehend policies and procedures and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. Ability to intervene in a therapeutic manner for behavior patterns symptoms/behaviors demonstrated by patients with an acute mental illness, substance use disorder personality disorder, substance abuse or developmental disability. Knowledge of psychiatric medications, side effects and treatment interventions, knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, mental health concepts, and evidence based therapeutic interventions and treatments.
