5 West Intermediate Critical Care Unit is an exciting 20 bed unit that specializes in stepdown care. An experienced RN is preferred but we are able to train on the job. Someone who is inquisitive and detail oriented are key skill we look for in a potential team member. Another asset we look for in perspective team members are those who are team players, outgoing, and those who are able to function mostly self-supported. Our team utilizes an interdisciplinary approach with collaboration from Healthcare Providers, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Physical and Occupational Therapies, and Nursing support. We serve a population that includes but is not limited to sepsis, diabetes, various degrees of renal failure, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with non-invasive respiratory support, stable tracheostomy tubes not requiring mechanical ventilation, and those needing a vasoactive medication. Our preferred ratio is 3:1 but we do flex to 4:1. Education: Bachelor's Degree, Required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Required. Master's Degree, Preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical RN experience, Preferred. Prior demonstrated nursing leadership, Preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, Required Unit/Dept Specific, Required Certifications
Additional Skills Required: Successful completion of generic and department‐specific skills validation and competency testing. Ability to successfully complete Leader Education & Training.

practice. Assures that team members provide care that is consistent with The Joint Commission and
other regulatory requirements. Actively participates in unit practice and best practice committees.
Promotes collegial relationships with physicians and other professional groups. Removes barriers for
team to assure optimal patient safety and satisfaction. Meets and maintains requirements of a
Registered Nurse. Develops and implements plan for self-development in collaboration with the Nurse
Manager, Director of Nursing or Nurse Executive to identify opportunities for succession planning.
Identifies opportunities for service recovery; assists with promoting collegial relationships with
ancillary/support departments within the organization.
• Interpersonal Effectiveness and Communication: Collaborate with physicians to develop or improve
processes surrounding care of patients. Assist with conducting departmental meetings. Creates an
environment that supports and respects diversity and inclusion where all team members feel safe,

resolve concerns related to the delivery of health care. Communicates with and involves the team

unit based initiatives or programs for a defined population. Participates in marketing/community

care team model to promote safe and effective staffing.
• Quality Improvement: Solicits feedback from ancillary stakeholders. Working directly with Nurse
Manager and other leaders, evaluates factors related to safety, outcomes, and effectiveness and
develops and implements improvement plans as needed. Makes decisions based on an understanding
of data trending and variation. Embraces change and acts as a change agent. Is a life-long learner.
Develops and implements an education plan for areas of responsibility annually in collaboration with
Nursing Practice Education and Research. Monitors and improves team satisfaction through
recruitment and retention initiatives.
• Human Experience: Creates an environment that promotes accountability through inspiration,
coaching, and mentoring. Role models and makes the services standards a part of their dialogue when
rounding with the team. Ensures patients and team are responded to in a timely manner. Monitors
customer satisfaction scores and makes changes for improvement. Works with team members to
develop or improve processes to assure a Remarkable Patient Experience. Provides updates to Nurse
Manager and seeks guidance and support to remove barriers. Celebrate accomplishments with team

corporate policy. Actively participates and supports Shared Governance and other unit subcommittees. Provides ongoing and annual feedback to team members on performance through
mentoring and coaching team in developing plans to achieve personal career goals. Provides
education and training of team members. Promotes and supports nursing Clinical Ladder program.
Builds teams and partnerships. Monitors, evaluates and coordinates workload trends and manages
resources to meet patient care needs. Promotes retention and recruitment. Mentors team in
development of leadership skills and maximizes their potential. Creates an environment that supports
professional growth and development. In partnership with Nurse Manager, develops succession plans
for team members.
• Financial Vitality: Manages positions within the department to achieve quality and productivity, and
meet budget. Provides input into the annual operations and capital budgets. Supports Nurse Manager
in managing the departmental budget (measures, monitors, and balances human and material
resources). Provides input for strategic planning for system/facility and community.
