Overview

The Senior Physician Recruiter has primary accountability for developing full-cycle recruitment of physicians and advanced practitioner candidates. Develops and implements sourcing strategies for attracting highly scarce and passive talent. Identifies and sources providers that will gain a sustainable competitive advantage. Also includes building successful relationships with internal and external prospects /candidates.

 


The Senior Physician Recruiter will ensure an effective and quality pipeline of providers are available and well developed to sustain and build the clinics and system initiatives. This position serves as the primary point of contact for practice managers, medical directors, directors, Chief Medical Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Executives Officers, Institute leaders, etc, for all recruitment and selection of providers. Responsible for all provider recruitment functions including consulting and implementing the sourcing and recruitment services that favorably impact our business objectives, outreach site visits, conference attendance, reference checking and building relationships with all provider candidates. This individual will deliver high quality service to both internal and external customers. In addition, responsibilities also include developing and maintaining relationships with physicians, group administrators and service area and regional leadership teams. The senior recruiter holds meetings with Hospital Administration and Medical Group Administration on a frequent basis. The senior recruiter also serves as a consultant in compensation, contract models and strategic workforce planning. The senior recruiter is responsible for reporting and special projects at the request of the Administration teams listed above.

 

Engages in critical business discussions to address and understand talent gaps. Requires building strong collaborative working relationships with executive leadership, physician compensation, benefits, strategic business partners, organizational and functional leaders across the system and in each region. Communicates in a proactive, effective and timely manner with stakeholders across the ministry.

 

The Senior Physician Recruiter is also responsible for aiding the process of hospital and payor credentialing, pre-boarding, and state medical licensure. The ability to understand timelines and deliverables from these functions is critical to ensuring that the process and communication between the teams, hiring managers, and the provider is seamless.

 

In addition to the recruitment duties noted above, this role is also assigned projects that impact their immediate work, regional recruitment team, or all of the Novant system. These projects can include other teams such as Compensation, Contracting, Operations, Acquisitions, and/or Marketing. The senior recruiter is also seen as an informal leader and has direct involvement with coaching and mentoring associate recruiters and recruiters. This individual assists leadership with on-boarding new recruiters, problem solving recruitment issues, providing guidance, and being an informal leader on the team. It is expected that the senior recruiter raises best practices in team meetings, identifies problems and recommends solutions, takes on leadership in absence of the manager, and positively reinforces team initiatives. Qualifications

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: Minimum five years of relevant experience required in provider, healthcare, corporate or executive recruiting, required. Three years experience Physician or healthcare related recruitment experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Participation in a recruitment professional organization preferred (e.g. Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment (AAPPR), or Fellow, Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (FASPR)), preferred.
  • Additional Skills (required):
    • Outstanding verbal and written skills required.
    • Ability to build strategic recruitment plans and sourcing strategy plans, clarify required job skills and competencies with leadership.
    • Demonstrated experience reviewing resumes against job requirements, interviewing candidates against qualifications and presenting recommendations to leadership.
    • Proven success having sourced candidates using networking, social media, events, competitive intelligence/research, sourcing tools and other programs.
    • Customer service skills to include strong public relations ability for representation of NHMG at career events, networking with outreach training programs, and networking with internal and external healthcare colleagues.
    • May work with corporate legal staff and corresponding teams on all activities involving immigration.
    • Maintains ties with residency/fellowship programs.
    • Attends local and national recruitment conferences.
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Additional Skills (preferred):
    • Experience consulting with executives and leadership on compensation/offers, market trends, sourcing challenges, candidate interviewing, and recruiting process expectations, accountabilities and service level preferred.
    • Previous experience using CRM and ATS preferred
    • Experience recruiting for other highly skilled positions with limited talent pool, i.e. similar to executive, provider, healthcare, IT, engineering, or other highly skilled positions.
    • Negotiation skillset improving the signing rates of candidates.
