The Access Team is embedded in the Emergency Department and provides BH crisis assessments for individuals presenting with acute psychiatric and/or substance withdrawal symptoms. Critical skills include risk assessment, knowledge of psychiatric and substance use disorders, crisis planning, ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and ability to prioritize tasks. The Lead ACCESS Coordinator serves as a change agent, role model, facilitator, communications center and coach for team members on all shifts. This role may rotate between team members for specified time periods. Provides assessment, evaluation and triage for all ACCESS calls and admissions to Novant Health Behavioral Health. Coordinates the admission and referral process. Provides consultation and assessment to other clinical areas of Novant Healthcare System. Exemplifies and promotes therapeutic practice and clinical excellence within the specialty of psychiatry. Is a resource for educational programs and behavioral health liaison to other areas in Novant Healthcare System. Maintains own professional knowledge and skills as a mental health expert. Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate Degree, required. Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling, Psychiatric/Mental Health Specialty.
  • Experience: Two years of Clinical Practice, required. Broad based background in multiple aspects of psychiatry and mental health, preferred. 
  • Licensure/Certification: Broad based background in multiple aspects of psychiatry and mental health, required. LCSW, LPC,LMFT, Ph.D., LCAS, required. 
  • Additional Skills (required): Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient’s age. Has ability to interpret information and identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs.
  • Additional Skills (preferred): Has experience and knowledge in Psychiatric Diagnoses and levels of care.
