Overview

The SPE, Neuroscience Institute provides strategic leadership and direction to build and direct all healthcare delivered under the aegis of the multidisciplinary Institute including neurology, neurosurgery, spine, pain and sleep medicine with supporting clinical and administrative services. The SPE will lead clinical programs and care, financial management, clinical research and, importantly, the integration and collaborations among all disciplines within the Institute with the intent of providing creative, coordinated and effective models of care to patients with neurologic diseases.

This leader will collaborate with key stakeholders to advance a strategy and lead the comprehensive neuroscience program to the next level through the growth of clinical programs and leading-edge treatments. The SPE will lead the development and oversight of the Institute’s quality performance, setting the standards of care, elevating patient care quality and disseminating best practices. The SPE will cultivate strong alignment and working relationships across the specialty programs within the Institute, external partnerships and across Novant Health to develop a consistent patient care offering.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certified in neurology or neurosurgery.
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of North Carolina.

Responsibilities

The following represent essential functions and responsibilities for the SPE. They are not listed by priority.

  • Provides leadership to all aspects of the Institute: managerial, operational, capital allocation, resources management, strategic and budgetary.

 

  • Fosters an environment that stimulates and incentivizes teamwork, interdisciplinary clinical programs of excellence and new approaches to care.

 

  • Provides broad leadership over a highly patient centric care model which focuses on safety, timely access, outcomes/effectiveness, efficiency, equity and family centeredness for hospital-wide and outpatient surgical services.

 

  • Develops and coordinates neuroscience services across all Novant markets to provide a unified and comprehensive approach to patient-centered care. Ensures the standardization of best practices and protocols to achieve top decile outcomes in coordination with Vizient rankings.

 

  • Ensures the recruitment and mentorship of clinicians and surgeons meet strategic goals.

 

  • Builds and maintains key institutional partnerships and strategic relationships in a pluralistic model to ensure excellence for patients and their families.

 

  • Oversees the Institute’s staffing, budgeting and resource management, meets financial goals and enacts policies and processes which promote fiscal accountability and responsibility.

 

  • Coordinates neuroscience research, with special emphasis based on clinical and translational

 

  • Supports and builds upon the system's dedication to diversity, inclusion and belonging in order to drive the mission of delivering remarkable care.

 

  • Serves as visible leader and spokesperson, advocating for all specialties within the Institute.

 

  • Manages contracting and professional services agreements that promote collaborative and effective partnerships.

 

  • Ensures compliance with external regulatory bodies, Novant, bylaws, policies, rules and regulations.
