Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU

Eligible up to $15k sign-on bonus - Neuro ICU RN - Forsyth Medical Center

The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health.

The neuro ICU is a 20-bed unit. We operate on a 2:1 ratio but may flex to 3:1 if needed for 1:1's. We service all stroke types, as well as seizures and other neurological disorders.

• We are a comprehensive stroke center and take care of large strokes and provide interventions.
• We specialize in ICP monitoring including EVD’s and bolts.
• Our Neuro ICU handles post-operative patients for brain and back surgeries, placing EVD’s at the bedside, taking overflow patients from other ICUs, and operate CRRT’s.

What makes our unit different?

• We have provider coverage in the unit 24/7.
• Our team leader operates out-of-coverage each shift as well as a stroke nurse.
• Our rapid responder works out of coverage and responds to all code strokes in the emergency department (ED) as well as house-wide.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current RN licensure in appropriate state
• One year relevant experience

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
• Experience: One year relevant experience preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state required. Advanced certifications as required per facility.
• Additional Skills (required): Appropriate customer service, effective and appropriate customer relations, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking and computer literacy. Advanced training as required by department.
