Clinical Exercise Physiologist- Regular

The Clinical Exercise Physiologist-certified (CEP-certified) leads patients in all disciplines of Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation in accordance with current cardiac and pulmonary policies and procedures with an emphasis on cardiac and pulmonary health and safety during exercise.  The CEP-certified formulates and modifies exercise prescriptions for Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Cancer Wellness participants based on medical history and special needs.  Provides clinical exercise stress testing for Heart & Vascular patients.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science required. MS degree in Exercise Science/ Exercise Physiology preferred. 
• Experience: Minimum of one year hospital, clinic, or cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation experience as an Exercise Physiologist preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: ACSM Certification in Clinical Exercise Physiology within 6 months of hire (Certification Agreement signed upon hire) required.
• Additional Skills (required):
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of all phases of routine and critical cardiac and respiratory care, with an emphasis on adult, chronic disease management.
  • Abilities to perform decisively in critical situations and to incorporate many types of data.
  • Has the knowledge, skills and ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs.
  • Has the ability to supervise exercise, monitor patients during exercise, and modify exercise prescriptions for cardio-pulmonary patients, in conjunction with registered nurses and/or physician as needed.
  • Has effective communication and interpersonal skills to relate to patients, families, nurses, physicians and other department and hospital staff.
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
