Overview

Novant Health Psychiatry and Mental Health Institute (PMHI) is actively searching for an outstanding physician leader to assume the role of Clinical Physician Executive (CPE) within the Greater Winston-Salem Market in North Carolina (GWSM). In this innovative position, the chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in offering leadership, setting policy direction, fostering strategic growth, ensuring operational excellence, and driving clinical advancements in psychiatric services throughout all Novant Health hospitals and ambulatory locations within the GWSM. This collaborative effort involves a matrixed partnership with the Market Nursing Director and Market Director of Operations.

 

  • The responsibilities of the CPE encompass the strategic planning, supervision, and coordination of all psychiatric initiatives, aiming for the delivery of high-quality patient services, operational excellence, and cost-effectiveness within the Market, working in collaboration with Market Operations and Nursing leadership.
  • This position holds the responsibility of cultivating robust professional relationships with administration, physicians, and nursing professionals throughout the Market.
  • The CPE exercises administrative oversight and leadership, aligning with the mission, vision, and people credo of Novant Health.
  • Direct clinical oversight is provided by the CPE across all areas associated with psychiatric services within the GWSM Market. Additionally, they contribute to the management and coordination of various Novant Health departments in the market, ensuring a well-integrated and meticulously planned operation of healthcare delivery services for the Psychiatry Institute.

 

The role of the CPE will commence as a 0.5 clinical Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) position, with an additional 0.5 FTE designated for administrative duties. The allocation of FTE will undergo periodic reviews as the Institute progresses. The clinical responsibilities will align with the candidate's chosen area of expertise and training.

 

Direct reporting for this role will be to the System Physician Executive for the Institute, positioning the CPE as an essential member of the market leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school – MD, DO, MBBS; board certification in Psychiatry with additional sub-specialty board certification a plus.
  • 5 + years of clinical experience; 3 + years of demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Background facilitating the development and refinement of psychiatric practices, serving as the primary physician leader to ensure cost effective, high quality, comprehensive care.
  • Experience implementing quality and care management initiatives, clinical best practices, and process improvement initiatives to achieve the highest level of care. Strong understanding of APA guidelines and the needs of other accrediting organizations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to advance and develop a superior clinical service.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills for both clinical and non-clinical audiences, in group settings or one-on-one.
  • MBA, MMM, MHA, MPH, or equivalent management education desired by not required.
