Overview

The Registered Nurse - Virtual will function in a virtual setting and is part of a remote care team which collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, staff, and other health care professionals to provide the best care across the health care continuum. This role serves as an integral member of the health care team who works to ensure safety, best practice and high-quality standards of care are maintained across the continuum. Responsibilities include but are not limited to ambulatory patient triage. Position responsibilities are met through providing information pertaining to acute and chronic healthcare needs related to each call. The nurse will assist the patient-in navigating the healthcare system to arrive at the appropriate venue of care. Some functions may include but are not limited to collaborating with providers, receiving and relaying radiology and lab results, educating patients, responding to general health questions, assessing appropriate healthcare access for the patient by utilizing approved protocols and encourages promoting patient engagement to reduce the risk of inappropriate venue of care and hospitalization. While this role will be responsible for virtual triage to assess a patients’ needs and provide relevant health information the RN will not make medical diagnoses or tell the caller what may be wrong.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, Required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, Required. Graduate of accredited School of Nursing. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, Preferred. Graduate of accredited School of Nursing. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Experience: Three year clinical experience in physician practice/ambulatory setting or community setting. Knowledgeable of chronic disease management, Required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN license in appropriate state, Required.
  • Additional Skills (required): Appropriate customer service, effective and appropriate customer relations, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and computer literacy. Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing. Has the ability to interpret information and identify each patient’s requirement for care relative to his/her age specific need. Has the knowledge and skill necessary to modify care according to patient(s) age.
