Overview

Novant Health is seeking an Intern for the Bridges to Healthcare internship program, which is designed to attract and develop high school students grades 9-12 interested in careers in healthcare, by introducing daily activities and rotations in multiple clinical and non-clinical departments. During this program the Intern will provide strategic support to the Novant Health team, and their assigned preceptor through projects, active participation in meetings, and educational opportunities to clarify interns’ professional goals and exposing them to various healthcare professions. Qualifications

Students must possess a current ID (government-issued or DMV issued - school IDs are not accepted).

NC Youth Employment ID and certificate is required for students under the age of 18.

  • Education: Must be currently enrolled in high school and:
    • Be in grade 9-12.
    • Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
    • Two (2) letters of recommendation will be required (from a faculty member, coach, community leader, or employer).
    • Must submit unofficial school transcript upon request.
  • Experience: None.
  • Additional Skills Required: 
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and e-mail.
    • Strong critical thinking, time management, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and all levels of authority.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Flexibility to respond to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
    • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
  • Additional Skills Preferred: Intellectual depth, moral integrity, personal vision, creativity, leadership skills, fortitude, sincerity, and diplomacy. Ability to work independently and as a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside of Novant Health.
