Overview

Novant Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant Lead maintains communication with clerical practice departments and physicians to address and respond to issues/concerns. Acts the go to person in absence of a clerical supervisor. Models leadership qualities for other team members. Works with a sense of urgency, ownership and accuracy to coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population. Order or assist with ordering of clinical supplies, linens, pharmaceuticals, as well as maintain inventories and required logs/documentation. Responsible for day-to-day clinical operations. Attends all clinical leads meetings and reports necessary updates to physicians and/or clinical staff. Assist or maintain clinical compliance in the office-maintaining proper documentation for cleaning logs, sterilization logs, temperature logs, assessing new safety sharps annually, proper documentation and inventory of controlled substances, etc. Responsible for making sure all required audits and/or reviews are done according to established Novant policies and procedures. May enter verge audits or complete timekeeper duties as assigned. Develops and implements action plans when Dashboard targets are not met.May be responsible for orienting new clinical staff in office. Schedules clinical staff for CPR certification/recertification as required and implements annual PPD requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school or GED, required. Certified Medical Assistant requirements: Graduate of Certified Medical Assistant program. Certifications allowed through American Association of Medical Assistants. Registered Medical Assistant requirements:Registry allowed through Association of Medical Technologists.
  • Experience:  Previous work in a medical setting, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current certification as CMA or RMA, required. 
  • Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
