Novant Health Cancer Institute-New Hanover, located in beautiful coastal North Carolina, seeks to add a physician to our group. Our growing community size and expanding specialty offerings dictate the immediate need for additional Hematology-Oncology services in our area.
We are seeking a BC/BE, highly motivated hematologist/oncologist to joint our predominantly outpatient, hospital-based practice in Wilmington, North Carolina. We treat our patients in NHRMC Zimmer Cancer Center, a state-of-the-art regional cancer center located in Wilmington as well as in our community-based, QOPI certified office in neighboring Brunswick County.
The cancer center provides highly disease specialized multidisciplinary cancer care in collaboration with radiation oncology, gynecologic oncology, surgical oncology, advanced radiology and pathology. This collaboration allows the medical hematology and oncology team to provide the highest level of care to all patients. Tumor board collaboration, multidisciplinary clinics, and advanced hospice and palliative care opportunities allow many opportunities for clinicians to function at a high level of involvement and job satisfaction. Many of our faculty take advantage of our relationship with the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and become UNC clinical professors as we are a main campus for UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine clinical clerkship years (3rd and 4th year) and have multiple residencies. In addition, we have a dynamic and growing research portfolio, taking advantage of our large Novant system’s strengths in clinical research as well as our UNC partnership to bring novel studies to our patients in the communities we serve.
We are currently a team of 11 medical oncologists and 8 advanced practice providers with plans to add at least two more physicians within the next 12 to 18 months. Call is 1 in 11 and evenly distributed. We have a robust hospitalist service managing admissions. This opportunity provides a highly competitive entrance salary with rapid advancement, comprehensive healthcare coverage, relocation expenses, annual physician allowance for CME and generous competitive vacation time.
Wilmington offers a variety of activities: historic downtown, Thalian Hall performing arts center, beaches and water activities, fishing nightlife, golf, tennis, great restaurants. Our community offers many family oriented events, festivals and activities. The Live Oak Bank Pavilion and Cape Fear Community College's Wilson Center offer the chance to see national touring musical acts. Additionally, area schools are identified as some of the top in the state while the local university provides further educational and cultural opportunities.
