**Position is IN-OFFICE in Charlotte, NC - 108 Providence Rd**

 

Novant Asset Management Company (NAMCO) is seeking an experienced investment professional for its Private Markets investment team. Members of this team are responsible for monitoring and managing an existing portfolio of private equity, private credit, real estate and real assets fund investments, as well as underwriting and recommending new fund investments for the portfolio. An ideal candidate for this team has experience in private fund diligence, investment reporting, financial modeling, market analysis & research, and fee & expense analysis. This candidate will be expected to participate in discussions regarding portfolio composition & construction, potential asset/investment managers, and macro-economic conditions, including potential impact on the portfolio. Ultimately, NAMCO is looking for a dynamic team member that can work collaboratively with internal team members as well as external parties to further the success of the private markets portfolio as well as the broader investment program.

Qualifications

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Math or other related field, required. Graduate Degree also accept internationally comparable degree, preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum eight years experience required. Relevant leadership experience in private markets at endowment, foundation, pension, fund-of-funds, investment banking or asset management firm, required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Chartered Financial Analyst - possess or actively be in the process of earning CFA designation, preferred.
  • Essential Functions: 
    • Effective communication skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and time-sensitive deliverables with a high degree of quality and accuracy while remaining highly organized
    • Participate in idea generation, market research and analysis activities to support investment decisions in private investments that include private equity, private credit and private real assets
    • Construct liquidity and cash flow models to adequately create, assess, and execute investment themes and individual managers from both a risk and return perspective
    • Maintains a dialogue with industry participants to develop insights into existing investment managers, cultivate new external investment manager relationships, and identify best practice
    • Provides support for monitoring investment performance with established metrics (e.g., benchmarks, expected risks and returns, strategies, etc.) to ensure investments perform as expected, enable timely corrective action, and minimize negative exposure
    • Reviews and analyzes portfolio performance reports for specific asset classes to highlight areas of over- and under-performance and to identify areas requiring in-depth analysis.
    • Prepare performance reports for internal presentations to members of the internal Investment Committee and Executive Management
    • Documented analytical skills. Must be able to absorb large amounts of data. Reach sound business conclusions from the data and communicate in executive summary format
    • Ability to find performance improvement opportunity from reviewing financial and operational metrics and investment portfolio
    • Financial acumen and general business savvy. Strong financially and committed to seeing that Novant Health remains fiscally sound
    • Strategic mindset with strong conceptual abilities; will be a planner and a thinker; will understand the “big picture” and be qualified to add value to the strategic planning process and other areas
    • Capable of sitting at the table with senior leadership and board members, and setting priorities for various projects
    • Leadership ability: the bent for taking responsibility, moving ahead, and encouraging others to share the vision; the qualities that inspire confidence and trust; a proactive, roll-up-the-sleeves style is a requirement
    • Excellent communication skills: must be able to elicit the real issues and be adept at presenting ideas orally and in writing
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a large organization, exceptional interpersonal skill and a highly professional demeanor
    • High energy level and understands the urgency of meeting the organization’s needs. Comfortable doing and delegating
    • Highly skilled user of spreadsheet and database software products 
  • Additional skills required: Solid communication and presentation skills with a firm understanding of the financial markets and investment environment. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Bloomberg, Burgiss Private i, Custodian system, etc.
