Overview

The Donor Relations Specialist is responsible for the comprehensive effort that ensures donors who invest over $10,000 experience high quality interactions that foster long-term engagement and reinvestment.  The donor relations specialist will initiate activities and strategies aimed at acknowledging donors’ contributions and communications that show impact of their gifts therefore, fostering long-term relationships with donors.  They will be responsible for interacting with donors in memorable and personal ways that surprise and delight the donors.  They will be responsible for pulling reports that show engagement or lack thereof, so that we can make sure the donor is touched 7 times a year.  The person in the role will develop plans of how we can touch donors beyond impact reports and in addition to what the fundraiser is doing.  They are responsible for ensuring that donor stewardship addendum are acted upon.  The donor relations specialist will come up with donor recognition ideas, salon event plans, and other perks that our donors will receive.   It is the job of the donor relations specialist to do as much of the stewardship and engagement as can be done beyond what a fundraiser is doing.  The donor relations specialist will be judged on the overall retention of our donor base improving.  As a key member of the Foundation team, the Donor Relations Specialist is essential to the engagement and retention of our donors.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree, preferred.
  • Experience: 5 Years  Required – Fund-raising, proposal development, marketing strategy and promotion activities. 
  • Additional Skills Preferred:

    o   Preferred proficiency in SalesForce or similar donor software database.

    o   Ability to prioritize appropriately when facing multiple responsibilities and tasks.

    o   Ability to work with diverse groups of people.

    o   Strong written and verbal communication skills

    o   Ability to write and deliver on deadline and to be able to proofread and edit your own content.

    o   A passion for organization’s mission and cause.

    o   High ethical standards, discretion, and confidentiality when working with donor information.

    o   Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with a team, instill confidence and trust with Novant Health team members and donors.
