Overview

Works under the supervision of the Managers and Coordinators of Respiratory Care. As directed by a physician, administers a variety of simple and complex treatments and tests related to the cardiopulmonary system to patient’s in age groups infants(1-12mos), through geriatric (72+ years).Is responsible for the competent delivery of all routine and emergent respiratory care services as described in the Respiratory Care policy and procedure manual. Explains purpose and procedure of treatments, tests and equipment to patients. Records all pertinent information of treatments, including patient response in the patient’s chart.

Essential:
* Cert Respiratory Therapist
* Lic Resp Care Practitioner

Education:
Essential:
* Associate Degree

Experience: None required. Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Individual will possess commensurate combination of education, experience and qualifications.

1. Administers a variety of simple and complex respiratory modalities such as ventilator care, emergency airway procedures, therapeutic gases, medications, evaluation, treatment, etc. as described in the Respiratory Care policy and procedure manual.
2. Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals to help develop and modify patient care plans.
3. Records treatment and test results in patients’ charts when performed.
4. Cleans and disinfects respiratory equipment and accessories.
5. Performs related duties such as assisting physicians with special procedures.
6. May perform moderate or waived point of care testing per CLIA guidelines.
7. Responds to Code Blue, Trauma and Rapid Responses .
8. Acts as preceptor for new employees and students.
9. Educates other members of the health care team i.e.; Physicians, RN’s etc. Conducts in-services as assigned.
10. Participates in appropriate continuing education.
