The record manager oversees organization, classification, storage and records destruction processes for both paper and nonpaper based information assets. The record manager is the Novant liaison with our records storage and destruction vendor(s). The position assists departments in obtaining storage and shred services, implementing new storage processes, resolving customer service issues, and managing the records retention policy. Serves as the internal link between medical records, non-medical records, EMR and PACs (facilitates communication).


  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Experience: Two years of experience within a hospital or healthcare setting required. Experience in records management and risk management preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: RHIT/RHIA required.
  • Additional Skills Required: Knowledge of computers and related software; Ability to interpret and utilize computer terminology; ability to read, comprehend, interpret and logically apply organizational and departmental policies, procedures, goals and objectives; Ability to work in a stressful environment resulting from non-linear demand of customer base; Excellent ability to prioritize and organize; strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent analytical, problem solving and diplomacy skills; Excellent numerical skills; Ability to function effectively as a leader within a team oriented work environment; Ability to use sound judgment in handling a broad variety of problem situations; Ability to interact with individuals throughout the organization in a pleasant and professional manner. Participate in ARMA International (Association of Record Managers and Administrators) and other industry-related organizations.
