We are the largest Med-Surg unit in the hospital, with 48 beds spread over 3 units. Our ratios are 1:5-6. We are open to new grads and residents and don’t necessarily require any experience. We realize nurses will learn quite a lot on our unit. Patient diagnosis include: Covid-19, pneumonia, COPD, pulmonary Embolism (PE), influenza, and respiratory failure. We always have respiratory therapists on the unit to manage the machines. We work closely with RT as well as PT/OT, case management, speech therapy, and the hospitalists. ACLS and BLS is needed. Stroke certification, optional.
