The Student Apprentice will provide clinical and operational services for assigned area(s), optimizing the quality of patient care under the supervision of a preceptor. The Student will be a self-directed, motivated learner as guided by intern program leaders and preceptors. Examples of major learning and development activities for the trainee include: participate in key services such as vaccination programs, medication listing, discharge counseling, medication navigation and medication therapy management, provide education for technicians and other health care professionals regarding proper drug therapy, conduct research, and quality improvement projects. The  Student provides technical operations support to develop a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of medical care within the hospital or community settings. The Apprentice acts in accordance with current policies and procedures. Appropriate and current state licensure and continuing education requirements must be completed prior to the start date and be active for the duration of employment. Able to work as needed shifts to support NH vaccination programs and workflows.


Education:  High school diploma or GED required.  Active enrollment in an ACPE accredited school/college of pharmacy, completion of second year curriculum at an accredited school/college of pharmacy, and minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on pharmacy school coursework required.

Experience:  Hospital or community pharmacy experience as well as pharmacy technician(CPhT) Certification and/or NC BOB Registration preferred.

Licensure/Certification:  Completion of an ACPE accredited education program with injection technique and response to vaccine reactions (ex: APhA Pharmacybased Immunization Delivery and basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation certified required.

Additional skills required:  Ability to drive/travel to multiple locations as needed; meet physical examination standards and requirements
