UPDATE: COVID Vaccine Announcement: Novant Health is requiring all new hires to receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine series (of either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or the single dose Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine) prior to their first day of employment. New hires must receive the second dose (of either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine) within 30 days of their first day of employment. This is a condition of employment, unless a faith-based or medical exemption is approved.
As part of the North Carolina Healthcare Association, we have been actively involved in many conversations to share and understand all necessary considerations to arrive at this decision. We are proud to be among the first to implement this program alongside other healthcare systems in the region who agree that a mandatory vaccine program is in the best interest of public health and a necessary step to ensure the safety of our patients, team members and communities.
In addition, all current team members, medical staff, contractors, vendors, students, and volunteers are required to complete the COVID-19 vaccination process by Sept. 15, 2021.
We are confident this action will help ensure we’re doing everything possible to bring an end to this pandemic.
