PACU/Outpatient recovery experience strongly preferred; BLS/ACLS required.
Our patient population is Oncology patients. Radiation Oncology med surge nurses provides phase 1/ phase 2 recovery care for patients receiving high dose rate (HDR) and low dose rate (LDR) brachytherapy radiation treatments. Nurses are expected to cross cover and support the outpatient clinic, as needed, for patient weekly assessment (vitals, med rec, referrals) and patient education as it relates to radiation treatments. The med-surg nurse needs high-level critical thinking skills, vast knowledge of disease states and body systems, robust management skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. These qualities provide a well-rounded foundation for the start of your nursing career.

8th West Tower the largest Med-Surg unit in the hospital, with 48 beds spread over 3 units. Our ratios are 1:5-6. We are open to new grads and residents and don’t necessarily require any experience. We realize nurses will learn quite a lot on our unit. Patient diagnosis include: Covid-19, pneumonia, COPD, pulmonary Embolism (PE), influenza, and respiratory failure. We will also have trach and/or ventilated patients, Bipaps and CPAPs, chest tubes, and high flow oxygen. We always have respiratory therapists on the unit to manage the machines. We work closely with RT as well as PT/OT, case management, speech therapy, and the hospitalists. ACLS and BLS is needed. Stroke certification, optional.

2nd GI is a newly remodeled 36 bed acute care unit that specializes in gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and hepatobiliary disorders. We also treat patients with a variety of medical issues and co-morbidities as well as those requiring both pre and post procedural and operative care. This is a fast-paced unit facilitating lots of teamwork! We have an amazing interdisciplinary team that includes Physicians, Dieticians, Social Workers, Clerical and Support staff which empowers us as a unit to provide a remarkable experience for those we care for. 2nd GI fosters a great learning environment and opportunity to grow as a professional in healthcare. Our nurse-to-patient ratio is 6 patients to 1 nurse. Our CNAs and Medical Unit Receptionists are also a vital part of our team working with all as we focus on providing patient centered and remarkable patient care.

Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Intermediate Care Team! The 6A intermediate ICU consists of 24 beds with a 3:1 patient to nurse ratio. This unit provides care for a variety of patients, including but not limited to, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, patients with tracheostomies/stable ventilators, respiratory complications, and post-radical neck dissection. As an RN on this unit, you may care for patients in our sister cardiac and neuro units. The 6A intermediate ICU has many supportive roles so the RN team can focus on care planning. 8th General Renal/Med Surg and Limb Preservation is a 41-bed nursing unit, specializes in patients with Renal, AKI to ESRD and Limb Preservation. Measures taken to salvage lower extremities-vascular surgery, diabetic foot infection, and Charcot foot with a LOS of approximately 6 days. Only dedicated limb preservation unit in the southeast US. We have an amazing interdisciplinary team that includes Physicians, Dieticians, Social Workers, Clerical and Support staff which empowers us as a unit to provide a remarkable experience for those we care for. 8th Renal and Limb preservation fosters a just culture environment and opportunity to grow as a professional in healthcare.
The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health or supports a peaceful death. The Registered Nurse utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures.
