Core Functions: Acts as department liaison for OR/Surgical Services. Collaborates with company reps, surgeons, and OR staff to ensure availability of items necessary for patient care. Participates in in-services with the OR staff for new equipment/supplies/instruments. Actively participates in departmental budgets as well as conserving resources to meet cost containment objectives. Demonstrates fiscal and operational accountability. Participates in year-end inventories. Receives, transports, orders, and stock medications within the scope of practice. Troubleshoots/seeks out any problems/discrepancies and shares with Administrator and OR to be proactive in resolution. Provides excellent customer service relating to customer inquiries, purchase orders, invoice resolution and par levels. Performs all computer functions related to Lawson, handhelds and other computer systems within Materials Management. Coordinates timely equipment repairs, arranges for substitutes/loaner/borrowing equipment if necessary to meet patient/surgeon/OR needs. Complies with and supports organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Assures compliance with standards of all the accreditation and regulatory bodies and commissions in relationship to supply management including JCAHO, OSHA, DHS, and FDA. Maintains and demonstrates professional competency according to department policies, procedures, and protocols. Participates in projects and programs directed toward personal and professional growth. Participates in Supply Chain meetings/huddles.
Inventory Management and Logistics: Responsible for all aspects of OR materials management within the assigned hospital. Manages par levels for the OR to include monitoring inventory levels and adjusting as needed. Responsible for minimizing overstock and obsolete inventory. Will be responsible for managing expired products, product backorders and conversions. Will maintain the cleanliness and organization of assigned par areas. Distributes all supplies to customers. Helps customers in researching requirements. Resolves any problems between hospitals and contracting, buyers, distribution centers or materials systems. Ensures that emergency and overnight supplies are distributed to customers. Ensures the supply components of the procedural areas are operating at a high level of efficiency. Provide support to external customers as required. Maintains strong vendor relationships. Participates with Disaster Recovery Team as it relates to materials management.
